Where Do Gypsies Reside During The Gypset?
We always travel on a Budget especially since we spend minimal time in our hotel. Since we travel solo most of the time we choose to stay at hotels rather than Air Bnb for safety reasons. When traveling to a foreign country alone it is important that someone can account for you coming and going.
Generally speaking when a hotel has a great Concierge they check in daily to ensure that you are safe and having a great time. For the Gypsy the Concierge always becomes my best friend because they assist with directions to tackle my itinerary. We spend minimal time in our room so all that matter’s is the rate, the cleanliness and a comfortable bed to rest in after our daily adventures.
Below are some of the Hotels that we have stayed in during our journeys that we thought we would share with you, should you visit some of the same countries. Remember experience is always our focus. Remember this Gypsy Tip it is important to always plan your trips during non-peak to get the best hotel rates.
We love booking.com, travelzoo.com and tripadvisor.com because they give comparative rates and let you know the best dates for travel.

HOTEL ZOO – BERLIN GERMANY
What once was a Townhouse with 130 Guest rooms built in 1889 turned into one of the most infamous International Design Hotels.
Once known for the Berlin Film Festival and still standing despite WWII and renovated by American design team Dayna Lee and Ted Berner. Together, they have revitalized the iconic venue by embracing its past glory while installing a firm sense of modernity. Hotel Zoo is German Luxury mixed with tons of style. Inspired by Fashion, Film, Music and German Design aesthetic

AC BELLA SKY – COPENHAGEN
We enjoyed our stay at this incredibly modern Hotel. As we travel the world Architecture and Design inspire our Gypsy Eyes. AC Bella is an Architectural work of Art.
With the title as the largest Hotel in Scandinavia with over 800 rooms and 23 Floors. The Structure built and designed by 3XN, AC Bella Sky Copenhagen consists of two towers which reach 76.5 metres up with an inclination of 15° in opposite directions.
The height was determined by restrictions due to the proximity of Copenhagen Airport and the tilting design chosen to optimize views. Ramboll was consulting engineer on structures, sewers and earthworks. All calculations and drawings used by Ramboll on the project were extracted from a 3D model. The calculation programme ROBOT worked together with the design program TEKLA to complete the structure.

APPIA LA FAYETTE – PARIS
When in Paris we have found that Hotel rooms are generally small and not always the most comfortable unless you stay 5 star and exceed your Gypsy budget.
The 18th Arrondissement is one of our favorite neighborhoods as it is pretty central to everything and within walking distance from the Gare du Nord subway station which is a main artery of the city. Appia La Fayette is a modest, clean Hotel with very comfortable beds and Parisian themed rooms. Perfect for a stay in Paris especially when you are Gypsetting in the Paris streets.

CAPE 22 GUESTHOUSE – CAPETOWN SOUTH AFRICA
By Far this was the cherry on top of our stay in South Africa. If you know the Gypsies you know that South Africa is one of our favorite destinations in the world.
Cape 22 Guesthouse as far as we are concerned is one of the Capetown’s Gems of Hospitality. The owners are gracious and remain focused on making you feel as if the house is your home during the time that you are staying with them.
Located among the slopes of Table Mountain, one of the 7 wonders of the world, with both the city and the harbor below. Cape 22 is located in one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Capetown.

SAVOY GRAND MARREKECH – MOROCCO
Morroco is an incredible and Magical place with so much to explore. We intend to visit annually and each time experiencing something completely different.
For our first experience in the country we chose to stay in a Hotel vs. a Souk because once again we were travelling solo. Savoy Grand Marrekech is an exceptional hotel nestled within Marrekech. 5 mins from the Airport and 5 star luxury in one of the most magical cities we’ve visited.
Avenue de la ménara BP 528, Marrakech, Hivernage, 40000 Marrakesh, Morocco
RADISSON HOTEL – TRINIDAD
One of the Older properties in Port of Spain. Since our stay was in the city there were limited affordable options. We decided to stay at the Radisson which is in the process of being renovated.
Generally we love the Radisson properties around the world however this property had both pros and cons. The Concierge Kedesha which we found out later was an intern made the difference in our experience and truly took care of us during our stay. The other staff members were also very accommodating. Next time we visit hopefully we will be able to do the an Airbnb or stay at a newer property on the island.

HOTEL KOHLY – HAVANA CUBA
With our much anticipated journey to Cuba, picking the best accomodations for our stay was crucial. We didn’t want the commercial, westernized experience, instead we opted for comfort Cuban style as we knew most of our time would be spent in Havana.
Hotel Kohly is a 3 star Hotel with the basic elements needed to enjoy a Gypsy adventure. A clean room, comfortable bed, cable and wifi were the only necessities a Gypsy needed. Although the wifi is spotty and only works consistently in the lobby we were excited to enjoy a true Cuban experience and were not looking for the convenience that Americans typically enjoy here in the states. Staying in an Airbnb is a great option when you have a large group that you are tralling with but be sure to bring all of your necessities including enough toilet paper to last the duration of your trip.

KA’ANA RESORT – BELIZE
In the attempt to truly disconnect with the world and enjoy the beauty of the Rainforest KA’ANA Resort was an impeccable choice.
The resort was the epitome of serenity, surrounded by nature and sunlight. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly ensuring that our stay was enjoyable and relaxing. We are sure to visit the new sister resort and tell you all about it when it opens in Placencia this summer. This was definitely a Gypsies Retreat, with more adventures than you can think of and each one a unique and rewarding cultural experience.
